Elena's First Sweater

Image
Hi Knitters,   There is something special about knitting for family.  My daughter recently, 9 weeks ago, gave birth to a beautiful girl.  I know that all "Mamma" believe that their grandchildren are the most beautiful, brightest and special.   I decided that I would present the newest member of our family with a knitted sweater and blanket.  I found some wonderful patterns by Karen Aston-Mills, "I believe in angels" collection, www.angelknits.com.uk .    I used a pattern called " Faith and Hope " and yarn called "Twinkle", by Mary Maxim which I had in my stash for some time. Now that she is 9 weeks only, she is able to wear it.  She actually had it on for Christmas; but, the hat did not fit.  I would recommend that a ribbon  be attached for under the chin so that the hat fits comfortable. Stevie Wonder puts is.... Isn't she lovely Isn't she wonderful Isn't she precious   Isn't she pretty Truly

Hi Knitters. Just finished a scarf called I Monti Pallidi (Pale Mountains) by Valentina Cosciani (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/i-monti-pallidi) I found this pattern and yarn at Knitter's Day Out Market from Hidden Rivers Yarns out of Philadelphia, PA.  Knitters' Day Out is a day and a half of classes, shopping, and hanging-out with devoted individuals who knit.  It has been held annually since 1986 in Summerdale, PA.  This is the first time that I attending this event.  I selected a class called " Designing and Charting Your Own Cables" with i nternationally famous knitter and crocheter, Lily Chin. I have done many cables before and want to get into more complex cable patterns so that I can design my own cables. I  learned how cable patterns are actually formed and their basic traits, characteristics and manipulations. As a result, I am able to better understanding and follow the directions a whole lot better.  I a

Semester is Over

Hi Knitters... N ow that this school semester is over, I can get back to knitting.  I have worked the Aranami Shawl by Olga Buraya-Kefelian in Madelin Tosh's black and teal colors.  I loved that shawl so much that I decided to make another; however, this time with the shells being a different color. I am currently working my way through Level 3 of TKGA's Master Hand Knitting Program.  I began the program in 1995 when I passed Level I.  I didn't complete Level II until June 2014.  I had intended to stop there.  However, I attended the 2015 TKGA's Conference in San Diego and got talked into finishing.  So in 2016, I ordered the package and here I am. I have just completed most of the swatches (one of them is seen below); but, I still have a number of items left to accomplished. As you can see from my BIO have been knitting for some years.  This adventure has expanded my technical skills and interests in ways beyond what I have expected.  I am
