As I have previously communicated, I think, I am in the process of completing TKGA's (The Knitting Guild of America) Master Hand Knitting Program.  I am on the file level - Level 3.  I keep going back and forth as to whether I am going to make the final submission.  Thus far, it is on...I am moving forwarded which the hopes of submitting before the end of 2018.  

 Part of the requirements, I am designing Aran Cable Hat.  This is my first attempt of designing an original garment from scratch. 


I started with identifying the cables that I wanted to use in the hat.  I found them in The Harmony Guides 220 Aaron Stitches and Patterns and knitted the swatch.  I noticed that the pattern that I wrote had the cables crossing incorrectly.  I also knitted the ribbing two different ways and determined that I preferred K2, P2.

After measuring my head, I figured the circumference at the widest point of my head and concluded the finished length size desired. I finalized and edited the pattern to the crown decreases.

I purchased Aran weight yarn from Michael's, cast on and started knitting. Since I did not believe that I would ever wear this hat, living in Florida, I did not want to purchase good yarn.  

 While knitting this first pattern repeat, I remembered that I needed to include Bobbles.  So I added them on the last row of the pattern repeat.  I am hoping that this will satisfy the requirements of the program.

 Finished the hat.  I will re-knit it again to test the instructions and make it available for purchase on Raverly soon.

SUMMA STRIPES SHAWL

Hiya, af ter working on a lace and cable cardigan, I wanted to knit something that would not tax my brain or hands.   I selected the Summa Stripes Shawl by Meiju K-P on Ravelry.   The shawl is knitted from side to side; but, in two different directions.  The shape is achieved with increases and short-rows.  There is minimal finishing needed which was another plus; especially after the detailed finishing on the cardigan. This seemed an easy project to get completed and it would use up some of my stash yarn.   So....after a little bit of searching, I found a couple of skeins for MadelineTosh DK (Electric Rainbow) and I paired it with yellow and black.   The only modification that I have made to the scarf has been to change the strip section.  I alternated black and yellow stripes. Shawl - Dragoness

 Hi Knitters, I came across this shawl when it was advertised in the Vogue Knitting Live New York course selections. The designer, Alexandra Davidoff, was having a class on this shawl.  Although I was going to attend VKL in February, along with my knitting friends, I wasn't planning on taking classes; but, I really liked this shawl. Together with my friends, I decided to have a KAL at my local yarn shop featuring this shawl. After researching, the designer has a mystery knit along with this pattern in 2018.  As a result, there are a number of Youtube videos that provide the explanation that I was looking for.  Here are a few things: 1. TEALEAF SWEATER - FINALLY DONE

Hiya, I have finally finished the Craftsy's Tealeaf Sweater by Bristol Ivy. The construction of the sweater is unique - which is what you can expect from Bristol.  It is intended to be worn with approximately 13 1⁄2” positive ease.  This enable the garment to be loose-fitting and drapey; however, the sleeves are knitted to fit snuggly around the arms.   Knitting this sweater was pretty easy.  The lace pattern was simple to remember; however, knitting the saddle shoulders with the front and back pieces was a little tricky; i.e., live stitches on front, back and the saddle stitches.   It is a little too big.  I have found this to be true for another of knitters; nevertheless, the results are WONDERFUL!!!   I will definitely make another one - I will try the smaller size!!.
