Elena's Christmas Sweater

Well, I finally finished Elena's Christmas Sweater!!  Just a little late I know.  

My local yarn shop had a sample and I thought that it was lovely.  I didn't think that I wouldn't have it finished - even though I didn't purchase the yarn and pattern until early December.  Since it was for a child, I just knew that I could get it completed. Unfortunately, I underestimated my timeline.

This is the first time I purchased a pattern by Rachel Brockman.  Lunaberry is an extremely festival pullover with holly leaves and a traditional snowflake motif.  The well-written pattern is accommodated with lovely illustrations, just right for the holidays, and is available in 6 sizes.  The sweater is knitted on three different size needles.  I used Laines du Nord Dolly Max.  Thus yarn is a stretchy, extra fine wool, and 100% mulesing-free.  Although the yarn is soft to the touch, it can be difficult to work with.  It is several strains of twisted yarn; therefore, you must pay attention to the yarn.

Can't wait to put this on Elena to see how it fits.  I made a larger size so that it will be ready for her next Christmas.

Elena's First Dress

Hiya! As I finished the latest sweater for Elena, my daughter placed a request for a dress.  So, I went on Raverly and found several lovely patterns for our little one. The first is a pattern called "Sweet Baby Dress" by Nancy Pietraszek .  This little dress is knitted from the top down.  It begins with knitting the yoke flat, then joined in the round with the sleeves placed on waste yarn.  The body is worked in the round in stockinette stitch with eyelet borders with garter stitch at the hem. I decided to make this dress in a "machine washable" yarn so that my daughter could easily take care of it.  In checking my stash, I realized that I have very little "machine washable" yarn.  So, I purchased "Cotton Fair" by Premier in Bright Peach (27-07).  This yarn is a smooth cotton blend containing 52% cotton and 48% acrylic.  I have started the dress and thus far,  completed the yoke and tops of the sleeves.  I just started...

SUMMA STRIPES SHAWL

Hiya, af ter working on a lace and cable cardigan, I wanted to knit something that would not tax my brain or hands.   I selected the Summa Stripes Shawl by Meiju K-P on Ravelry.   The shawl is knitted from side to side; but, in two different directions.  The shape is achieved with increases and short-rows.  There is minimal finishing needed which was another plus; especially after the detailed finishing on the cardigan. This seemed an easy project to get completed and it would use up some of my stash yarn.   So....after a little bit of searching, I found a couple of skeins for MadelineTosh DK (Electric Rainbow) and I paired it with yellow and black.   The only modification that I have made to the scarf has been to change the strip section.  I alternated black and yellow stripes. THE TEGNA CROPPED SWEATER (Part Two)

Hiya! I finally finished this lovely sweater.   I made a few modifications.  For example, I cast on for the large size and reduced stitched down to the medium size for the waist and above. I also make it a little longer than the crop version. The yarn that I used was Bamboo yarn for the first time from Theodora's Pearls - Auxanometer in Platinum by Dizzylettuce. I found the sheen and drape wonderful. I am looking forward to getting this yarn on my needles in the near future. This is the first time that I am  knitting with Bamboo. So I though I would do a little research on it and I found the following: 1. Although bamboo has been around in nature for quite some time, it is a relatively new fiber for the knitting world. 2. Since it is a natural fiber, is produces a very eco-friendly. 3. Although Bamboo is strong and flexible, it also produces a bit of luxury, breathable fabric that wears well. 4.
