FOUR COLORED LACE SHAWL

Image
Hiya, s ince gaining a granddaughter and moving to Florida last December, I have been knitting from my stash.  In addition, as a result of the climate, 40% of my stash is not suitable to this weather.  Therefore, I have been looking for lighter weighted or fingering yarns and patterns.   For this shawl, I am using Crave Yarn Thoreau, Kathy's BFF from Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze Peppino, left over Madelinetosh Merino Light and Bernat Berella Sock and Fingering Yarns. The " Falochron Shawl " pattern has been on my list of things to knit for sometime and finally decided to create it.  The designer is Hanna Maciejewska and it is a free pattern.   The crescent-shaped shawl is designed for 3 colors; however, I am using 4 colors. It is knitted top down, with a slip-stitch border and an easy lace pattern.  The pattern is written as well as charted. Almost completed! Enjoy Knitting Each Day!

Hiya, As I have previously communicated, I think, I am in the process of completing TKGA's (The Knitting Guild of America) Master Hand Knitting Program.  I am on the file level - Level 3.  I keep going back and forth as to whether I am going to make the final submission.  Thus far, it is on...I am moving forwarded which the hopes of submitting before the end of 2018.   Part of the requirements, I am designing Aran Cable Hat.  This is my first attempt of designing an original garment from scratch.   I started with identifying the cables that I wanted to use in the hat.  I found them in The Harmony Guides 220 Aaron Stitches and Patterns and knitted the swatch.  I noticed that the pattern that I wrote had the cables crossing incorrectly.  I also knitted the ribbing two different ways and determined that I preferred K2, P2. After measuring my head, I figured the circumference at the widest point of my head and concluded the finished length size desired. I finalized and

SUMMER TOP

Image
Hiya!   As I continue with my "knitting from my stash" event, I started a new summer top. I purchased this yarn many, many yarns ago from my local yarn store.  Unfortunately, it was going out of business and I purchased tons of yarn and patterns as a result.  I do not believe that I ever had the label; so, I do not know the manufacturer nor the yarn content.  It does seem to be a novelty cotton blend yarn.  The yarn is a 2-ply, thick and thin.   The resulting fabric is a light DK weight - 20 sts / 28 rows per 4 inches on size 5 US needles.   I decided to use this yarn for the Pea Soup by Helene Rush for Knit One Crochet Too.  I found the pattern was written well for the back; but, I had difficulty to understand the instructions for the front. As I worked on the front, It appears that portions of the instructions were missing when it came to the shoulders. Therefore, I modified the front after binding off by knitting the shoulders (left and right) to the s

L'ATELIER SUMMER SWEATER - Part Two

Image
Hiya! I completed the front and back of the sweater.  I noticed that although the yarn will stretch (ribbon), I feel that I need to add some length to the bottom. When you look at the original picture (see previous blog),  it appears that they sweater falls about 3-4 inches from her waist.  This is does not seem to be the case at the moment.  Therefore, I decided to add a couple of inches of ribbing to the bottom.   To accomplish this, I pickup up 160 stitches along the bottom edge.  I knitted in K3, P1 ribbing using size 7 needles (two size smaller than the body).  I knitted the ribbing for seven (7) rows then used the Russian (Lace) bind off method. I will finished the collar with a reverse single crochet stitch and do a better job at lacing up the sleeves to match the picture. I feel this summer sweater will look perfect with a white cami. TEALEAF SWEATER - FINALLY DONE

Image
Hiya, I have finally finished the Craftsy's Tealeaf Sweater by Bristol Ivy. The construction of the sweater is unique - which is what you can expect from Bristol.  It is intended to be worn with approximately 13 1⁄2” positive ease.  This enable the garment to be loose-fitting and drapey; however, the sleeves are knitted to fit snuggly around the arms.   Knitting this sweater was pretty easy.  The lace pattern was simple to remember; however, knitting the saddle shoulders with the front and back pieces was a little tricky; i.e., live stitches on front, back and the saddle stitches.   It is a little too big.  I have found this to be true for another of knitters; nevertheless, the results are WONDERFUL!!!   I will definitely make another one - I will try the smaller size!!. Enjoy Knitting Each Day! Jackie PS: I will post a picture with me wearing my lovely sweater soon.

THE TEGNA CROPPED SWEATER (Part Two)

Image
Hiya! I finally finished this lovely sweater.   I made a few modifications.  For example, I cast on for the large size and reduced stitched down to the medium size for the waist and above. I also make it a little longer than the crop version. The yarn that I used was Bamboo yarn for the first time from Theodora's Pearls - Auxanometer in Platinum by Dizzylettuce. I found the sheen and drape wonderful. I am looking forward to getting this yarn on my needles in the near future. This is the first time that I am  knitting with Bamboo. So I though I would do a little research on it and I found the following: 1. Although bamboo has been around in nature for quite some time, it is a relatively new fiber for the knitting world. 2. Since it is a natural fiber, is produces a very eco-friendly. 3. Although Bamboo is strong and flexible, it also produces a bit of luxury, breathable fabric that wears well. 4. Bamboo is considered naturally antibacterial. 5. Bamboo is a p

L'ATELIER SUMMER SWEATER - Part One

Image
Hiya! I am in the seventh month of "knitting from my stash" event.  I have successfully completed several items thus far for my granddaughter.  Last month, I started on knitted items for myself.  I have already completed on sweater which was actually a WIP.    This sweater is no different.  Purchased in February 2017 for L'Atelier's Sunday Night Delights.   I found this design great for the summer and the sleeve construction catching.  I was also interested in knitting with Lana Grossa Allegro ribbon-type yarn.  It is 58% viscose and 42% cotton blend with sensational variegations.  I've chosen aqua, pink and gray (#24). I have completed the back so far and I am a little concerned about the length.  It would appear from the model that the sweater lays at the middle of her hips; however, the portion that I knitted seems to end just below the waist. If after knitting and blocking, I might only need to add a few inches to have it lay on m
